BRIEF HISTORY AND PRESENT STATUS:-
GovernmentIndustrial Training Institute Garnota is the only Government I.T.I. situated in remote and rural topography of Village Garnota, Tehsil Sihunta, District Chamba in the State of Himachal Pradesh.The major income source of native people here is to rare sheeps, goats& agriculture. This institute is situated almost 122 KM from the District Head Quarter and there is no other institute on this highway from Govt. ITI Garnota to Chamba.Interest of people here is increasing day by day in Technical Education. Job oriented, structured and entrepreneurship oriented training is very essential in order to have job opportunities and scope for self employment for the young generation which is the prime need of the present day, Since every young person has a goal in his life to get proper job or to have his own unit to settle down. Industrial Training Institute play an important role to achieve this goal. The Govt. of India as well as Govt. of Himachal Pradesh is also stressing and giving great emphasis on technical education.The training of students at their doorsteps shall provide and equip themselves to gain employment in public as well as private sectors. Therefore, a mini Industrial Training Institute at Garnota, Tehsil Bhattiyat was proposed, so that the youth can be imparted training in various trades.
Govt. Industrial Training Institute was come in existence in the year2005 videletter No. EDN (TE)A(1)5/2002 dated 31.03.2005 of Govt. of Himachal Pradesh Department of Technical Education Vocational & Industrial Training. This Institute was established in the year 2007with an objective of imparting skills in various vocational trades to meet the skilled manpower requirement of the industries. This institute started running in the double story building constructed by District Rural Development Agency Distt. Chamba through Block Development Officer Bhattiyat Distt. Chamba with 03 Trades of one or two year’s duration (Electrician, Plumber & Dress Making) of Engineering & Non-Engineering field. At present 03 tradeswith 05 units are running in this institute i.e. Dress Making 01 unit-20 trainees (Subsidized), Electrician 1(Subsidized) +1(Non-Subsidized) unit-40 Trainees (20+20) & Plumber 1(Subsidized)+1(Non-Subsidized) unit-48 Trainees (24+24) Total= 108 trainees.
Institute Management Committee (IMC) of Govt. Industrial Training Institute Garnota is notified by Government of Himachal Pradesh letter No. EDN(TE)A(1)49/2014-loose dated Shimla-2, the 15th Feb., 2021 for improvement in the field of vocational training to equip the youth with skills, education & discipline for suitable industrial employment as well as self employment.
This institute has also successfully conducted short term training courses under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY-3.0), Himachal Pradesh Skill Development Project (HPSDP) in collaboration with HPKVN, Shimla (HP) and PM-Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in sessions 2021-22, 2022-23 and2023-24, 2024-25, Nal Jal Mitra Scheme Under Jal Jeevan Mission successfully completed 02 Nos Batches and Short Term Courses under PM- Vishwakarma Yojna are planned in near future. also successfully running in this institute
